BELL MICRO, LEGACY SIGN DISTRIBUTION PACT

SAN CLEMENTE - 07/29/04 - OEM supplier Bell Microproducts (BMP) has agreed to distribute Legacy Electronics' full line of memory modules in North America, Latin America and Europe.
 
The agreement, which takes effect immediately, marks the first time Legacy Electronics has chosen to work with another firm for product distribution.
 
Bell Microproducts' customers include contract electronics manufacturing, systems integrators/builders, embedded computing, computing and storage components, medical imaging, website hosting, defense systems, Internet security appliances, and telecommunications.
 
The company's offering includes semiconductors, computer platforms, peripherals and storage products of various types, including desktop, high-end computer and storage subsystems, fiber channel connectivity products, RAID, NAS and SAN storage systems, back-up products, storage management software, and extensive support, integration and installation services.
 
BMP markets and distributes more than 125 brand name product lines to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), contract electronic manufacturing services (EMS), value-added resellers (VARs) and systems integrators in the Americas and Europe.
 
Headquartered in South Orange County, Legacy Electronics is the developer of  patented three-dimensional printed circuit board subassemblies and process technologies.
 
The company, founded in 1998 also designs, manufactures, and tests high-density memory modules, printed circuit boards and other computer products.

MEXICO LIFTS CALIFORNIA LETTUCE BAN

GOOGLE BELGIUM TAKEN TO COURT

BRUSSELS, Belgium – 09/20/06 – Internet search engine Google has been ordered to cease reproducing articles from French-language publications in the news sections of its Belgian website; the court order threatens the company with a fine of $1.3 million daily if it does not comply.


NEW OAKLAND INTERMODAL FACILITY PLANNED

OAKLAND – 09/11/06 – The 425-acre former Oakland Army Base will be converted into the Port of Oakland’s newest intermodal rail yard under the terms of an agreement reached between the port and several local and state government agencies; the planned OHIT – or Outer Harbor Intermodal Terminal – is expected to significantly reduce container transfer times, increase throughput, and reduce truck traffic in and around the port when completed within the next several years.


INTEL MAY LAYOFF THOUSANDS

SANTA CLARA – 09/04/06 – Chipmaker Intel is reportedly planning to announce a massive layoff within weeks that could eliminate as many as 10,000 jobs or one-tenth of the company’s total global workforce; the move was spurred by several financially disappointing quarters and the results of an internal corporate analysis conducted in April.
