AUTO INDUSTRY RESEARCHER EXPANDS IN EUROPE

WESTLAKE VILLAGE - 09/21/04 - International auto industry marketing researcher J.D. Power & Associates has acquired its UK-based partner and has announced plans to open an office in Munich, Germany.

J.D. Power acquired the Oxford-based LMC Automotive Services Ltd., which recently collaborated with the Southern California company on a global automotive forecast.

Terms of the deal were not announced, but the partnership dates back eight years.

The new office in Germany is part of the company's strategy of strengthening its relationship with major European automakers, such as DaimlerChrysler AG, Volkswagen AG, Fiat Auto, as well as parts makers Siemens AG and Bosch.

The office will be managed by David Lauth, a veteran of the English and South African auto industries, who will coordinate operations with the company's existing office in London, the newly acquired LMC Automotive Services in Oxford, and the new office in Munich.

With the auto market changing, especially in Eastern Europe, the company made the move "to allow for quicker response to foreign trends," according to a statement issued by the company.
