VIDIENT, NEC SOLUTIONS FORM GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP

SUNNYVALE - 09/28/04 - Vidient Systems Inc. and NEC Solutions (America) Inc. have created a partnership in which NEC will market, sell and distribute Vidient newly developed video surveillance software worldwide and incorporate it into a full-range of its security offerings.

The partnership was announced at ASIS International 2004, the world's largest security industry trade show this week in Dallas, Texas.

Vidient's newly patented "SmartCatch" system is based on advanced behavior recognition software that makes networks of digital video cameras more accurate and cost-effective.

These video networks are extensively used to monitor secure locations at airports and other major transportation facilities, corporations, and other public venues.

Initial research and development on the advanced video algorithms used in the SmartCatch system was conducted by NEC Laboratories America Inc., the research and development arm of NEC USA.

SmartCatch is currently being used at several major airports, such as San Francisco International, Salt Lake City International, and San Diego International, as well as a number of major international corporations and public institutions.
