
CALIFORNIA FITNESS TEAMS WITH JACKIE CHAN
HONG KONG - 03/17/05 - California Fitness, part of 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide, has inked a partnership with action movie superstar Jackie Chan to create a chain of California Fitness Jackie Chan signature fitness centers.
The first center is scheduled to open in May on Nathan Road in the heart of the Tsim Sha Tsui district of Kowloon.
According to San Ramon-based 24 Hour Fitness Worldwide, future clubs are slated for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Singapore, and several other locations in Asia and elsewhere.
Chan will be actively involved in tailoring the ambience and facilities of the new chain of California Fitness Jackie Chan Sport Clubs "to create his very own signature," according to a company press release. California Fitness operates more than 345 fitness facilities worldwide and recently was ranked 73rd in Asia's top 1,000 most recognizable name-brands by Media Portfolio and currently operates six facilities in Hong Kong, two in Singapore, two in Kuala Lumpur and five in Taiwan.

Indian Software Firm In Majority Stake Deal

ALAMEDA 07/25/05 Informed Decisions Inc., a developer of collection software for colleges and universities, has signed a Letter of Intent clearing the way for the sale of a majority stake to CSWL Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of California Software Ltd. of Chennai, India; according to press reports, the planned buy would be the fourth in the US in the last 12 months for the Indian company.

Legoland California Changes Hands

COPENHAGEN, Denmark 07/14/05 The Blackstone Group a US private equity firm has paid the Lego Co. more than $456 million for its four signature theme parks in Denmark, England, Germany, and California; the move by the Denmark-based Lego Co. to sell the parks was reportedly spurred by its $311 million revenue loss last year and the companys decision to concentrate on its core toy business.
