PEOPLE - APRIL 15th to 30th, 2003

SAN JOSE – Brad Smith, CEO of Heritage Bank of Commerce, announced today that the bank has retained the services of Colleen Carlsted as a business banking consultant. Most recently, Carlsted served as executive vice president at Bridge Bank in Palo Alto. She was executive vice president at Cupertino National Bank, a subsidiary of Greater Bay Bancorp where she was a member of the Greater Bay Bancorp Executive Management Committee. She also worked in positions of increasing responsibility at Foothill Bank, Pacific Western Bank, and University Bank and Trust Company.

DUBLIN – Sybase, Inc. has named Masaki Sawabe as president and general manager of Sybase's subsidiary in Japan, Sybase K.K. Sawabe succeeds David Warren, who served as acting president for more than a year and who will become vice president of Business Operations in Sawabe's new organization. Prior to joining Sybase K.K., Sawabe held executive sales and management roles in industry-leading technologies companies SAP Japan and IBM Japan. Most recently, he served as president and CEO of BMC Software Japan. Sawabe graduated from Keio University with a degree in economics.

DIAMOND BAR – Roger Brunetti is the new acting president at Veltex Corp. Roger had been the company’s vice president and  an extensive background in business with over 30 years in management experience.

RANCHO DOMINGUEZ – Piaggio USA, manufacturers of the world-famous Vespa motorscooter, has named Costantino Sambuy as the company's new president and CEO. Prior to joining the Piaggio USA team, Sambuy was Marketing Director for Piaggio Ltd. in the UK, where he was primarily responsible for setting up the marketing operation for the Italian-based Vespa brand. Sambuy began his tenure with the Piaggio Group at the company's Italian headquarters as Brand Manager. Before joining Piaggio, Sambuy was a Brand Manager for a sales promotional agency in Hong Kong.

CHATSWORTH – Pentadyne Power Corp. has appointed Michael Daish as its new director of sales. Daish joins Pentadyne as the company enters field trials with its advanced design flywheel power system. The product is designed to reduce or eliminate the need for chemical batteries in uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) and to provide a reliable DC power source for other applications during a power disturbance. The Pentadyne system also provides voltage stabilization for adjustable speed drives (ASD), transportation, and distributed generation.

REDWOOD CITY – Scott Sullivan has been named vice president of sales at Gilian Technologies. Sullivan has spent more than 20 years in operations, marketing, and services, most recently at Netegrity, where he built and managed the vertical sales and services organization. Before his post as Netegrity's senior vice president - vertical Sales and services, Sullivan had worked at Coopers & Lybrand, where he directed the e-Commerce and Internet practice, as well as Data General and Digital Equipment Corp. His varied experience includes software engineering to business manager.
