CAL COMPANIES ACQUIRED BY LOGISTICS PROVIDER

MONTEREY - 03/18/05 - Logistics provider C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. has acquired three California-based produce sourcing and marketing companies - FoodSource Inc., FoodSource Procurement LLC, and Epic Roots Inc.
 
The FoodSource trio, based in Monterey, provide a variety of produce sourcing and distribution services including produce procurement, contract management, private label brand management, new item development, merchandising, packaging and transportation of produce.
 
The three companies combined had gross revenues of approximately $270 million in 2004 and serve approximately 260 customers, including large retail grocery chains, retail grocery wholesalers, mid-range supermarkets, specialty food chains and foodservice distributors.
 
Founded in 1905 and based in Eden Prarie, Minnesota, C.H. Robinson Worldwide is a global provider of multi-modal logistics services through a network of 176 offices in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia.
 
The company, based in Eden Prarie, Minnesota, has gross revenues of approximately $4.3 billion.
 
Specific terms of the FoodSource acquisition were not disclosed.

UK Firm To Manage Cal Wind Power Project

LONDON , England – 05/24/05 – PPM Energy (PPM), the US subsidiary of Scottish Power, says it will invest $235 million to acquire and build the new 150 megawatt Shiloh wind-powered electricity generation project in Solano County in Northern California; the state’s wind generation ''farms'' cover more than 27,000 acres, but only 10% - 15% of that total area is actually occupied by turbines.


Cal Grad School Receives Export Education Grant

MONTEREY – 05/20/05 – The two-year, $183,000 federal grant will go to establishing a Center for the Globalization and Localization of Business Exports (GLOBE) at the Monterey Institute of International Studies’ Fisher Graduate School of International Business; the GLOBE will help companies adapt and tailor their products and services for export to foreign markets.
