NY FIRM RELOCATES SoCAL OPERATIONS
ONTARIO – 03/10/07 – A New York-based manufacturer of food nutrients has said it will relocate its Southern California manufacturing and laboratory facility to the City of Ontario in San Bernardino County, about 50 miles west of Los Angeles.
The decision by Schenectady, New York-headquartered Fortitech Inc. is part of the company’s plan to strengthen its customer service profile in the western US, Asia, and Latin America.
The company said it will increase the size of the facility by adding 35,000 square feet of warehouse/manufacturing space to an existing 95,000 square foot facility in Ontario. The company’s operations were previously located in the City of Fontana, about 14 miles from Ontario.
In addition to the expansion in California, Fortitech - Asia Pacific will open the doors this summer at a new manufacturing and laboratory facility in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to serve the company’s growing markets in China, Indonesia, and Australia.
Another subsidiary – Fortitech - Mexico – will relocate its operations to a larger distribution center in southern Mexico City by next spring, while the new Malaysia plant is expected to be fully functional by mid-2008.
The expansion plans will reportedly cap off a more than $22 million global expansion which includes the company’s new manufacturing and testing facility in Gadstrup, Denmark, which opened in 2005.
