UNITED TO RESUME SOME ASIA SERVICE

CHICAGO - United Airlines has said it will restore some flights from the US to Asia on August 1 previously suspended because of travel declines due to the pneumonia-like virus SARS. United, which filed the largest ever US airline bankruptcy with parent UAL Corp. in December, plans to restore four flights per week between Chicago and Hong Kong on August 1 that it suspended because of SARS, or severe acute respiratory syndrome. The second largest US air carrier behind AMR Corp.'s American Airlines, United also plans to add a third flight per week between Chicago and Beijing, up from two flights per week in July. The airline also expects to increase to daily service between San Francisco and Hong Kong, from three times per week in July, and to daily service between San Francisco and Shanghai, up from five times per week in July, the carrier said.
