MITSUBISHI MOTORS SNAGS HYUNDAI CEO
DETROIT - Mitsubishi Motors North America Inc. has selected Hyundai Motor America's leader Finbarr O'Neill as its new chief executive.
O'Neill, who replaces outgoing CEO Pierre Gagnon, spent 18 years with Hyundai, where he is credited with orchestrating a turnaround following his promotion to president and CEO in 1998. Hyundai spokesman Chris Hosford said the company would begin responding immediately following word that O'Neill was leaving, but Hyundai had no other immediate comment for the press.
Fountain Valley, CA -based Hyundai Motor America is a subsidiary of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co.
SEMICON MAKER NAMES REGIONAL MANAGERS
REDWOOD CITY - IXI Mobile Inc. has named Jim Eun, President & General Manager of IXI Mobile Asia.
Eun previously served as President of Intel Korea and President of Synopsys Korea where he focused on business development in the area of semiconductors. He will be based at IXI Mobile's regional offices in Seoul, Korea.
The company has also appointed Robert Fransson as General Manager of its EMEA (Europe-Middle East-Africa) operations. He was formerly a Principal Consultant at Netcom Consultants where he advised many leading global mobile operators on 2G and 3G license bids, new market entry and product/service launches.
Fransson will work out of IXI Mobile's regional offices in London, UK.
ST ASSEMBLY TEST SERVICES NAMES NEW CFO
MILPITAS - Dov Oshri has been appointed the new Chief Financial Officer at ST Assembly Test Services Ltd. Dov joins STATS from Orbotech Ltd, a provider of advanced technologies used by electronics manufacturers in the production of PCBs, flat panel displays, and IC packaging and electronics assembly. As VP for Finance and Operations, Dov was overall in charge of human resources, IT, business planning and finance for Orbotech operations in Asia, excluding Japan. A Certified Public Accountant, Oshri graduated with a BA in Economics from Ben-Gurion University in Israel. He also holds an MBA from Southern Illinois University. SAN DIEGO - Robert Harrington has joined REMEC Inc. as the company's new vice president of marketing.
In his new position, Harrington will be responsible for the strategic and hands-on direction of all marketing and branding efforts, and serve as a senior member of the company's executive management team.
He previously served as Senior Vice President of Fasturn Inc., a provider of operations performance management solutions.
Harrington has a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Stanford University.
