UNITED UNVEILS 2004 FARE SALE CHICAGO - United Airlines has announced a New Year fare sale for travel to more than 300 destinations throughout the United States and to Asia/Pacific, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, for travel commencing as early as January 6. Domestic sample fares are each way - based on required round-trip purchase -- and include Boston-Chicago, $79; New York-San Francisco, $144; Los Angeles-Chicago, $99; Denver-Washington, DC, $134; and Honolulu-Los Angeles, $203. Service is provided by United, except where noted. Additional taxes and fees apply to the discount fares.
International sample fares are each way - based on required round-trip purchase -- and include Los Angeles-Zurich, $219; San Francisco-Seoul, $239; New York-Tel Aviv, $359; Atlanta-Frankfurt, $179; Chicago-Dublin, $129; and Washington, DC-Moscow, $219. Service is provided by United, Lufthansa or a combination thereof, except where noted. Additional taxes and fees apply also apply to international flights.
For domestic destinations, tickets must be purchased 14 days in advance of travel and no later than January 16. There is a required Saturday-night stay and the maximum stay is 30 days. All travel must be completed by April 28. Fares are valid for travel from noon on Monday through 11:59 am on Thursday and from noon through 11:59 pm on Saturday, except where noted. Fares may be higher for other days of the week.
For destinations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, tickets must be purchased seven days in advance of travel and no later than January 16. There is a required Saturday-night stay and the maximum stay is 30 days. All travel must commence by March 25, except where noted.
For Pacific destinations, tickets must be purchased no later than January 16 (a minimum of seven days in advance of travel for North Pacific destinations and three days in advance of travel for South Pacific destinations). There is a required Saturday-night stay for North Pacific destinations and a required seven-night stay for South Pacific points. The maximum stay is 30 days. North Pacific travel must commence no later than March 31and be completed by April 4. South Pacific travel must commence by January 18 and be completed by March 31.
For Latin American destinations, tickets must be purchased seven days in advance of travel and no later than January 16. The minimum stay is three days and the maximum stay is 30 days, except where noted. All travel must commence no later than March 31 and be completed by April 4. Blackout dates and other conditions may apply. KOREA TOURISM DEFICIT TO EXCEED $3 BILLION SEOUL - Despite South Korea's effort to attract more foreign travelers, the country's tourism account deficit hit a record-high $2.86 billion in the January-November period of this year, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said. Outbound travelers surpassed inbound travelers by 6.47 million to 4.27 million during the 11-month period, the ministry said. Given the trend, the tourism account deficit for the entire year is expected to exceed $3 billion, a record surge from last year's record deficit of $2.4 billion, the agency said.
