NEC, NITEO PARTNER ON FINANCIAL SERVICES STANDARDS
 
RANCHO CORDOVA - NEC Solutions (America) Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary Niteo Partners - a consulting, solutions and systems integration firm - is assisting the committee for the International Organization for Standards (ISO) tasked with developing security and operational standards for the financial community worldwide.

The ISO Technical Committee 68 is the official worldwide standards developer for the financial industry and accredited by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) of Geneva, Switzerland. NEC Solutions America chairs a subcommittee of this group, comprised of 18 delegates from 15 countries, focused on standardization in information security and financial operations.

ISO TC 68 and its subcommittee chairman met recently in Seoul, Korea in December 2003, to review the standardization plans of its member countries and liaison organizations for the financial services industry.

Specific areas of discussion included financial messaging standards and the adoption of ISO 15022 by the 30 member countries; the development of specifications and standards for financial card transactions; quality standards for financial planning; and progress toward the use of biometric technologies financial applications.
 
In the field of security, ISO TC 68 maintains multiple working groups, each supported by country members with specific expertise in the field.

Key areas of working group focus are information security policy and risk management; the application of cryptographic and key management algorithms in financial applications; policies and practices for the use of public key infrastructures and digital certificates; security for personal identification information; and the security and management of biometric information.

Headquartered in New York, Niteo Partners also has offices in New Jersey, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Tokyo and offshore headquarters in Chennai.

Clients include Bank of New York, CalFed, Citibank, Eli Lilly and Company, Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, First Data Corp., FXall, Hunter Douglas, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, Siemens, Sun Microsystems, and Trend Micro.
