MENLO WORLDWIDE EXPANDS IN INDIA 

REDWOOD CITY - Logistics service provider Menlo Worldwide is reportedly expanding its supply chain services presence in India and its increasing geographic coverage of the Indian subcontinent by nearly 50%.

The company plans to add four new sales and operations offices to the nine offices it currently operates in key cities throughout India.

At the same time, the company - a $2.9 billion business segment of CNF Inc. - announced it will expand its service profile in the country with the launch of a Customs brokerage service and a domestic heavy freight express service.

Menlo Worldwide's India operations, which have experienced double-digit growth over the past five years, are part of the company's UMA (UK, Middle East, Africa & West Asia) region headquartered in London, UK.

MWFI has nearly 200 employees in India.

In addition to three logistics centers, Menlo Worldwide operates service centers in Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Cochin, Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Hyderabad, New Delhi and Coimbatore.
The company is adding new sales and operations offices in Pune, Chandigarh, Agra, and Jaipur.
 
DHL SEES ASIA-PACIFIC MARKET SHARE GROW

SINGAPORE - Global courier DHL has said it will expand its 40% share of the Asia-Pacific express courier market by one-to-two percentage points in the next few years, fuelled by growth in China.
DHL is a unit of Deutsche Post Agand earned about $3 billion in revenue from its express and logistics businesses in Asia last year - about 11% of its total global turnover.

The company's primary competition in Asia  faces competition in Asia comes from United Parcel Service Inc (UPS) and FedEx Corp.

According to a company spokesman, DHL is seeing 20% to 25% growth in Japan, with business in Chgina growing by almost twice that rate.
 
Revenue at DHL's China express have grown 35% to 45% annually over the last five years.
Last year, DHL said it would invest $200 million to fund a 5-year expansion plan in China - a figure that was increased to $215 million a few months ago.  

OVERNITE IMPROVES TRUCKING TRANSIT TIMES

RICHMOND - Overnite Transportation Company has cut transit times to three days between half a dozen key Southern California locations to vital markets in the central US, including St. Louis.

The improved service standards, which involve nearly 110 transit lanes, effectively expand Overnite's three-day umbrella to cover freight moving between Southern California and three Midwestern states.

The service improvements now provide three-day "sleeper team" service from Overnite California facilities in Bakersfield, Fontana, Fresno, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and Simi Valley, and its locations in Evansville, Indiana; Decatur, Mount Vernon and Rock Island, Ilinois; and Rolla and St. Louis, Missouri. 

The latest enhancements are the most recent improvements in the motor carrier's  nationwide efforts to reduce transit times, resulting in 1,300 lane improvements this year.
 
Overnite Transportation Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Overnite Corporation, which also owns Motor Cargo Industries Inc.
 
Together, both companies form one of the largest less-than-truckload carriers in the US with more than 200 service centers and a fleet of over 6,000 tractors and over 21,000 trailers, providing full-state coverage to all 50 states and providing customers with direct access to more than 45,000 cities in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, and Mexico.
