WORLD POKER TOUR EXPANDS GLOBAL PROFILE
LOS ANGELES - WPT Enterprises Inc. has said it is expanding the international distribution of its World Poker Tour (WPT) television series to six new countries.
Joining the roster, which previously included the US, Canada, and the UK, are Australia, Sweden, the Philippines, and South Korea.
Networks contracted to air episodes from the first season of the WPT include the Philippines' RPN, South Korea's Badook TV, Canada's Chum TV, Sweden's SBS, Australia's Foxtel, and the UK's Challenge TV. The World Poker Tour initially launched internationally in Canada and the UK last winter. The organization is currently in negotiations for distribution of its Season Two shows and for expansion into other markets. The UK and Canadian networks have already signed on for Season Two. International distribution is handled by Alfred Haber Distribution, Inc., the world's largest distributor of US network specials from networks such as CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX. Haber currently represents more than 1,000 hours of programming from 200 television producers, spanning the genres of award shows, music events, documentaries, variety specials, wildlife programs, and holiday celebrations, as well as series, mini-series, and made-for-television motion pictures. SAN BRUNO - Medion USA, a subsidiary of Germany-based PC and consumer electronics developer Medion AG, has successfully launched sales and marketing operations in the US.
The company's latest offering is a joint Medion/Disney product, the Disney Dream Desk PC, a Medion-built PC recently debuted in New York City.
The new product is the most recent offering in a number of jointly created Medion/Disney consumer electronics, and is one of many new Medion products scheduled to hit the American market over the coming months. Medion products include powerful multimedia systems that feature best-of-breed multimedia components from leading suppliers such as Sony, Seagate, Intel, INVIDIA, and Microsoft. These systems feature Intel's latest Pentium 4 processors which support the HT Technology 5xx sequence, as well as PCI Express graphics, DVD burners, 9-in-1 media readers, SATA hard drives, and 32-bit Azalia sound. Medion USA, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Medion AG of Essen, Germany.
