IMPCO TO PARTNER WITH COCA COLA MEXICO
CERRITOS - Fuel cell developer IMPCO Technologies Inc. has been contracted to retrofit Coca Cola Mexico's fleet with clean burning propane fuel cells.
Coca Cola Mexico operates a fleet of 6,000 delivery vehicles in Mexico City, of which 2,500 have already been converted to alternative fuel operation. The company has also converted an additional 7,500 vehicles out of a total of 25,000 delivery vehicles not in Mexico City. With gasoline priced at $2.07 per gallon and propane at only $1.20 Coca Cola Mexico will be able to realize yearly fuel savings of over US$10 million and stop fuel theft, the company said. UNOCAL AFFILIATE SELLS SHARE IN BRAZIL VENTURE
EL SEGUNDO - The Unocal Corp's Unocal Global Ventures II Ltd. subsidiary has sold its 50% equity interest in a jointly held project company that owns UnoPaso Exploracao e Producao de Petroleo e Gas Ltda., a Brazilian petroleum exploration and production venture.
The deal was valued at $61 million plus approximately $7 million in working capital.
The purchaser, EL Paso Production International Cayman Company, is a subsidiary of El Paso Corporation, which now owns 100% of UnoPaso.
According to the agreement, Unocal may also receive up to $19 million in potential additional payments that are contingent on attainment of certain natural gas prices and/or volume thresholds.
The underlying assets sold represent net production of approximately 4,500 barrels-of-oil-equivalent per day to Unocal.
SUPERIOR INDUSTRIES UPDATES OUTLOOK VAN NUYS - Superior Industries International has said its operating results for the third quarter of 2004 will be below consensus expectations.
Management expects about a 5% decline in unit wheel shipments for the third quarter, and net earnings of approximately $0.20 per diluted share.
The company supplies OEM aluminum wheels and other aluminum automotive components to Ford, General Motors, DaimlerChrysler, Audi, BMW, Isuzu, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mazda, MG Rover, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, and Volkswagen.
