MGM Networks, a Los Angeles-based unit of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., has launched The MGM Channel in Taiwan and recently signed an agreement to launch the channel in Malaysia in coming months. Since debuting a customized MGM-branded channel a year ago in Hong Kong for the Greater China and Southeast Asia market, The MGM Channel has extended its reach into seven of the region's most important countries and territories. The MGM Channel is produced and distributed in the region by MGM Networks through a strategic alliance with CNBC Asia Pacific. Among MGM Networks' latest channel launches are The MGM Channel in Spain, which launched this summer, and a Russian-language version of The MGM Channel, which is scheduled to launch to subscribers in Russia and Latvia later this fall…

JAKKS Pacific Inc. recently signed an agreement with Marvel Enterprises Inc. increasing the number of product categories, as well as the number of properties available for use by JAKKS Pacific. The agreement includes craft and activities, pool and water toys, yo-yos and kites for several Marvel classic properties, including The X-Men, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and Marvel's pre-school program, Spider-Man and Friends. The agreement also covers Marvel movie properties including Iron Man, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Ghost Rider, and future movies for Daredevil and X-Men. The Ontario, Canada-based DALSA Corp. has said it will open the doors to a new Digital Cinema Center in Woodland Hills, a San Fernando Valley suburb of Los Angeles. The 12,000 square foot full service rental facility will open in January 2005 and will be home to the DALSA Origin, the world's first and only 4K digital motion picture camera. The new Center will also be the first rental operation in Los Angeles to provide a full spectrum of digital cameras, accessories and services to meet the needs of production companies and directors of photography for virtually all of their productions, from reality television programs to feature film production. At the same time, the company said that it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Broadcast Plus, an established video equipment and services provider in Los Angeles currently serving broadcast and HDTV productions. DALSA has operations in Bromont, Quebec; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Eindhoven, the Netherlands; Munich, Germany; and Tokyo, Japan.
