Synopsys Inc. has appointed Jay Greenberg as its new Senior Vice President of Marketing. He comes to the company with more than 30 years of experience in marketing strategy development and execution, especially in the semiconductor arena. Prior to joining Synopsys, he served as the founder and president of Green Mountain Solutions, a strategic marketing, business process improvement and organizational development consulting firm. Prior to that, Greenberg was Vice President of Strategic Marketing and Business Development at the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Ltd. (TSMC) in Taipei, Taiwan, the world's largest dedicated semiconductor foundry;
Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro recently announced the retirement of Asger Falstrup, senior vice president - Ingram Micro Inc. and president, Ingram Micro - Latin America, effective December 31. According to the company, Falstrup "will provide guidance and advice to the region through a consulting agreement until May 31 of next year." David Schoenberger, the region's chief financial officer, will become interim President of Ingram Micro - Latin America on Jan. 1, 2005. He will work closely with Falstrup through the end of May to ensure a smooth transition, the company said. Schoenberger joined Ingram Micro in September 2003 after three years as Chief Financial Officer of Verizon Information Systems;
Pat Hays is the new Vice President of Engineering at MIPS Technologies Inc., a provider of industry- standard processor architectures and cores for digital consumer and business applications. Hays has more than 20 years of semiconductor experience and has held engineering management positions at AT&T Bell Laboratories, PictureTel, and Lexra Inc., a development company he co-founded. Hays holds an undergraduate degree and a PhD in physics from Harvard and MIT, respectively, and an MSEE from Virginia Polytechnic Institute (VPI). He holds seven patents with another three that are currently pending;
Aqua Xtremes Inc., manufacturer of a jet-powered personal watercraft that combines extreme watersports with jet surfing, has appointed Art Robins as the company's new Chief Executive Officer., according to Nova Communications, the company's parent;
The Stonepath Group has outlined several key executive promotions, including the naming of Melvin Law to the post of Managing Director of Stonepath Asia Pacific Ocean Freight Services, where he will be responsible for all ocean sales and operations in Asia; Andy Tsai to the position of Managing Director of Stonepath Asia Pacific Air Freight Services, responsible for all Air Freight Sales and Operations in Asia.; and Daniel Tang to the post of Senior Vice President - Worldwide Air Freight. Tang will be based in Shanghai, responsible for promoting Stonepath Air Freight worldwide, and will have a team of sales staff reporting to him located in all of the logistics provider's markets. experience;
The Port of Long Beach has named Tom Teofilo and Carl Kemp to the positions of Managing Director of Maritime Services and Director of Community Affairs, respectively. Teofilo, who most recently served as Vice President - Southern California of the Pacific Merchant Shipping Association, replaces Don Wylie, who retired this past summer. Kemp will be responsible for maintaining and improving the port's relationship "with everyone from Long Beach residents to state government," said a port press release. His primary role early in his tenure likely will be to deal with the Long Beach City Council - a job he performed for the last six years as Government and Community Affairs Director in City Manager Jerry Miller's office; and...
the Santa Maria & Company, a Walnut Creek-based insurance brokerage/commercial risk management consultancy, has detailed its expansion into southern California with the strategic hire of Mike Robinson. A former aide to State Senator Tom McClintock, Robinson recently ran for the Republican nomination for the State Assembly. Working out of the company's new offices in Thousand Oaks, Robinson will be responsible for business development in the Southern California market.
