The US Department of Agriculture's Foreign Agricultural Service will host 12 buyers from India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on a trade mission to San Francisco next month. Led by the agricultural counselor from the US Embassy in New Delhi, the mission will promote US exports to South Asia by providing US processed food exporters an opportunity to meet one-on-one with some of the region's top retailers and importers. The mission will visit San Francisco on January 24 for the Fancy Food Show at the Moscone Convention Center. US exports of consumer-oriented products to South Asia have grown from $76 million in 2000 to $149 million in 2004. The buyers have expressed particular interest in the following products: dried fruit, nuts, sauces, spreads, dressings, fruit juices, jams and jellies, flavoring syrups, biscuits, cookies, breakfast cereals, candies, chocolates, confectionery products, cake mixes, snack foods, baby food, frozen potato products, cheese, and canned fruits and vegetables. The mission is also scheduled to visit Seattle and Miami.
