Oakley Inc. recently hosted an exclusive media event in London to showcase the launch of its new Oakley Thump, the world's first digital audio eyewear. The Foothill Ranch-based company's new invention was showcased for celebrities, athletes and select members of the press at The Neighborhood nightclub, located in fashionable West London. The new audio eyewear are being offered exclusively at 14 Virgin Megastores in the UK and select specialty retailers. Oakley offers its branded line of electronics, premium performance footwear, apparel, accessories, watches, and prescription eyewear to consumers in more than 100 countries. Sea Breeze Power Corp. of Vancouver, British Columbia has said that its Sea Breeze Pacific Regional Transmission System Inc. joint venture has filed an interconnection application with Pacific Gas & Electric Company of San Francisco for the first-ever submarine transmission line that would allow for the direct transmission of electricity from Canada to California. Sea Breeze Pacific's initial application is for a 1,600 megawatt High Voltage Direct Current ("HVDC") undersea cable - expandable to 3,200 MW). The route will run 3-12 miles offshore along portions of British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and California for approximately 1,200 miles. The initial application for 1,600 megawatts could provide electricity requirements for more than one million homes in the state. The west coast submarine transmission corridor was conceived as an answer to the challenge of unlocking the many thousands of "stranded" megawatts of clean, renewable energy that remain unutilized along the Canadian west coast.  Other significant benefits of the west coast submarine cable "would be to help stabilize the western continental power grid by making load flows more predictable, along with freeing up conventional energy resources currently constrained as exports from western Canada to California," Sea Breeze Power said; and…

Firan Technology Group Corporation (FTG) of Toronto has acquired all of the shares of SnS Enterprises Inc. - dba Young Electronics - a printed circuit board manufacturer based in Los Angeles active in the aerospace, defense and oil field industries from Ambitech International Inc. Young Electronics had annual revenues of approximately $10 million. The acquisition had a cash purchase price of $5 million, according to a company press release. Young's customers include Honeywell, Smiths Industries, Harris Corporation and Boeing. FTG has two existing operating divisions - FTG Circuits, a leading supplier of high reliability, high technology printed circuit boards, and FTG Aerospace, which manufactures illuminated panels and keyboards for the civil and military aviation industries. All its Canadian manufacturing operations are located in Scarborough, Ontario.
