Tom Shurstad, president of Concord-based Pacer Stacktrain, has been appointed to the board of directors of the Intermodal Association of North America (IANA). The Washington, DC-based national trade organization represents the combined interests of the intermodal freight industry and has more than 500 companies on its membership roster. Shurstad, who joined Pacer Stacktrain in 2002, had previously served as chief executive officer of the Chicago-based Belt Railway. He has also held management positions with Southern Pacific Lines until its merger with the Union Pacific; APL Ltd.; the Port of Seattle; and the Burlington Northern Railroad. MGM Studios in Los Angeles recently named Judith Jecmen as its Senior Vice President - Legal Finance. Jecmen joined MGM Studios in 2001 as director of business affairs, and was promoted in 2002 to vice president, legal finance. She previously served as vice president, business affairs for DeLaurentiis Entertainment Ltd. and Cinetel Films; as general counsel at Producers Sales Organization; and as an attorney with Warner Bros. International. She also worked in private practice with law firms in New York, Texas and Mississippi, specializing in mergers and acquisitions, venture-capital financing and entertainment law. She earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center, received a BA in English and French from the University of Dayton, and holds a Certificat de Francais from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. Jecmen is a member of the American Bar Association, its Intellectual Property Law Section and its Entertainment and Sports Industries Forum, and is admitted before the bar in California, New York, Mississippi, and Texas.
