
CERADYNE OPENS NEW CHINA FACILITY
COSTA MESA – 06/21/07 – Ceradyne Inc. recently celebrated the opening of its new 98,000-square foot factory in Tianjin, China.
The new facility will produce high purity ceramic crucibles for the forming of large poly-silicon ingots for use in the manufacturing of photovoltaic silicon solar cells.
Ceradyne develops, manufactures, and markets advanced technical ceramic products and components for defense, industrial, automotive/diesel, and commercial applications.
The company's products are utilized in a variety of areas including ballistic armor protection for military personnel, tactical vehicles, helicopters, aircraft; in the production of missile nose cones; in the manufacture of components for aluminum processing, silicon refining, semiconductor processing, aluminum metalizing, cast iron, and super-alloy cutting; and in the processing of components for steel and aluminum casting, titanium forming, glass tempering, thin-strip metal casting.
In late 2004, Ceradyne acquired ESK Ceramics of Kempten, Germany, a major supplier of starting powders for manufacturing advanced ceramics products.
In addition to its new facility in China, the firm currently employs 1,900 people at operating facilities in the US, Canada, France, and Germany.

LA CHAMBER JOINS EXIM FINANCE PROGRAM

WASHINGTON, DC – 07/10/07 – The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce (LAACOC) has joined a new Export-Import Bank of the US program to offer Los Angeles-based businesses easier access to export financing; the new City-State Partners Program is a nationwide marketing initiative that brings state and local government offices and private-sector organizations into partnerships with the bank’s expand export opportunities.

CAPSTONE SECURES UK, IRELAND AGREEMENT

CHATSWORTH – 06/28/07 – Microturbine energy systems developer Capstone Turbine Corp. has signed a new distribution agreement with UK-based Cogenco to distribute its systems in the United Kingdom and Ireland; earlier this year, Capstone announced a new $1.6 million follow-on order from its distributor in Russia for its C-65 microturbine systems.
