
CAPSTONE SECURES UK, IRELAND AGREEMENT
CHATSWORTH – 06/28/07 – Microturbine energy systems developer Capstone Turbine Corp. has signed a new distribution agreement with UK-based Cogenco to distribute its systems in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Cogenco, which specializes in combined heat and power generation (CHP) systems, has subsidiaries in France and Italy and a distribution network reaching into Korea, Greece, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Serbia, and Ireland.
Earlier this year, Capstone announced a new $1.6 million follow-on order from its distributor in Russia for its C-65 microturbine systems, capable of generating some 1.8 megawatts of power.
The company’s distributor in Russia, Banking Production Center (BPC), ordered the systems which will be deployed at multiple sites throughout Russia.
Previous orders secured by BPC were used in a number of projects throughout the country including a commercial business complex in Moscow, a shopping center, telecommunications facilities, a prestigious ski resort complex near St. Petersburg, and a hotel in Moscow.
The firm is a member of the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Combined Heat and Power Partnership and is a UL-Certified ISO 9001:2000 certified company.
Capstone has sales offices and service centers in the US, Mexico, Italy, China, Japan, and the UK.

BURBANK – 08/07/07 – The Walt Disney Company has finalized its acquisition of Club Penguin, the popular Canadian children’s website, which boasts more than 700,000 pre-teen subscribers and saw 4.7 million unique visitors in June, an increase of 159% over a year earlier.

LA CHAMBER JOINS EXIM FINANCE PROGRAM

WASHINGTON, DC – 07/10/07 – The Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce (LAACOC) has joined a new Export-Import Bank of the US program to offer Los Angeles-based businesses easier access to export financing; the new City-State Partners Program is a nationwide marketing initiative that brings state and local government offices and private-sector organizations into partnerships with the bank’s expand export opportunities.

CERADYNE OPENS NEW CHINA FACILITY

COSTA MESA – 06/21/07 – Southern California-based ceramics developer Ceradyne Inc. has opened the doors at a new 98,000-square foot production facility in Tianjin, China; the new plant will produce high purity ceramic crucibles for the forming of large poly-silicon ingots for use in the manufacturing of photovoltaic silicon solar cells.
